The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) is a United States federal law, enacted in 2004, that allows two classes of persons—the "qualified law enforcement officer" and the "qualified retired law enforcement officer" -- to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of any state or local law to the contrary, with certain exceptions.  Fee for this class is $50.00.  
There will be a $40.00 fee for each additional firearm you choose to qualify with.

All security guards are required to complete an 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course prior to applying to the Department of State for a Security Guard Registration Card, followed by a 16 Hour On-the-Job Training Course for Security Guards within 90 days of initial employment as a security guard, and annually complete an 8 Hour Annual In-service Training Course for Security Guards every year thereafter.

This course is a review of the 47 Hour Firearms Training Course which includes complete familiarization with and discussion of, Article 35 of the New York State Penal Law, the nomenclature for all service weapons which the security guard is authorized to carry in the performance of his/her duties. Use of firearms and standard safety precautions will be emphasized. Loading and Unloading, sighting, proper grip, trigger control and effective range of the respective weapons will be covered. All authorized weapons will be fired for familiarization. All service handguns which the security guard is authorized to carry in the performance of his/her duties will be fired for qualification. The course includes ammunition and targets.

This course is available to range members only and designed for individuals in need of basic firearm skills up to intermediate level efficiency.  The goal is to teach an individual accuracy and to have good shot placement.  The area of training will consist of a review of NYS Penal Law Article 35 and Liability, firearm presentation review drill, principal of shooting, proper and individualized shooting technique, target analyzation target (Basic), live fire.  Additional equipment required to attend this class - (3) boxes of ammunition, Baseball Cap, Eye and ear protection, Outside the waist holster, Reading glasses (if used), Comfortable footwear.  Fee for this class is $125.00.
